Friends to learn with are a must, and don’t be deceived by the lack of a pricetag: Dota 2 will cost you hundreds of hours. Each match of Dota 2 is independent and involves two teams, both containing five players and each occupying a stronghold at either end of the map. Located in each stronghold is a building called the “Ancient”; to win, a team must destroy the enemy’s Ancient. Each player controls a “Hero” character and focuses on leveling up, collecting gold, acquiring items and fighting against the other team to achieve victory.

1.  Half Life 2

Half-Life-2-wide_1920x1200

Half Life 2 is one of the, sorry, Half Life 2 is ‘d’ best game ever made, ever. Forget about Linux, windows or video game consoles, Half Life 2 is the best. Edge Magazine best describes Half Life 2 in their review :

Half-Life 2 is a first-person shooter. But in action, storytelling, technical achievement, atmosphere and intensity it has far outdone its peers. Valve just hit the top note no other PC game developer could reach…The excuse that ‘it’s just a game’ won’t cut it anymore.

Half Life 2 was the first game to use realtime 3D physics or movie like shaders which were used by Pixar at that time to create movis like Toy Story. Rated 96/100 on Metacritic, sold more than 12 million copies worldwide, Half Life 2 is the reason why many of us play video games or started playing video games, Half Life 2 is a more than a Video Game, it is a second life we all dream of, perfection.

  1. I only have Half Life 2 Deathmatch and it needs to have a prone position lying and crawling on the ground and the ability to climb over objects that you can’t reasonably jump over of which there are many.

I agree that it’s a great game but in my mind it isn’t complete the way it is.

  2. This article is bad for two reasons: it is clearly influenced by the writer’s affection towards FPS games and the Games mentioned are from ONE game studio / publisher (Valve) only. The first fact may be an indicator of how superficial the “game journalists” have become, the second my indicate a sponsored post. Neither of which is a good thing.

I think there are many more games which provide great gaming experience and are NOT shooters. I for myself love playing easy to learn but hard to master games. Here are a few examples: Eldritch, Hotline Miami, Don’t Starve, FEZ, Legend of Grimrock, Teleglitch, Splice, Stacking, Super Meat Boy…
